Happy Thanksgiving from archSCAN!
archSCAN wishes you a wonderful holiday season, which is kicked off by Thanksgiving, a holiday where we give thanks for the blessings we received all year. archSCAN would like to thank you for your time and business this year.
We hope to hear from you in 2017!
Sometimes I really love my job. You just never know what to expect from one day to another. Yesterday, I went to pick up some drawings from a client and all of a sudden, a hidden stash of drawings was brought to our attention. So, my small pick-up turned into this!
We will be cataloging all the drawings in a database. We will be separating out duplications, merging sets back together which may have been separated over time, and we'll identify the latest and greatest version of each set.
Here are few other pictures!
Have you ever wondered how archSCAN really helps its clients? We transform how they live and work! We transform chaos into order. Please take a look at this video which show some of archSCAN's dramatic transformations!
As any building/facilities manager knows, blueprints are some of the worst documents to keep organized. They need to be kept forever. Maintenance and facilities workers need access to them at all times. They are very important.
Below are pictures of a few plan rooms that archSCAN has organized, digitized, and indexed:

It is resolution time again. The greatest gift you can give yourself is becoming more organized. Are your files a mess? Can you locate your electronic information quickly and easily? Can you find important documents without leaving your office? It may be time to organize your documents, both paper and electronic files.
archSCAN specializes in organizing your documents for you. We create a customized database, file folder structure, and a method to organizing your files. We will standardize naming conventions, and convert file formats to PDF.
Cross that resolution off the list and get organized!
3. PDF Formatting
- DPI (Dots per Inch)- The higher the DPI the sharper and larger the image. For example, photographs often require a higher DPI (300) because they are often viewed larger than the original. As a rule of thumb, if a document is viewed at 100% in size or smaller, 200 DPI is sufficient.
- OCR (Optical Character Recognition)- Do you need your text to be searchable?
- PDF or PDF/A- PDF/A is an archive PDF that is not designed to be modified.
5. End Product
- Where is the newly digitized information going?
- External Hard Drive
- Document management system
- Where do the paper documents go? (Shredded, archived, Returned to original location?)
- Plan for the future
- How will archive be maintained?
- Who is responsible? Librarian? Continual Scanning Contract?
Good luck! Contact archSCAN to discuss your scanning project.
